Founded over 75 years ago, the Company is a leader in the design and manufacturing of foundry tooling. The Company has reinvented itself many times over its history to serve the needs of today’s ever-changing markets. The Company’s services include permanent and semi-permanent tooling and core boxes. It also has a full-service in-house engineering team and advanced manufacturing capabilities. With deep roots in Michigan, customers were historically tied to the automotive market, including General Motors’ own internal foundries as well as Tier 1 suppliers. However, recent initiatives have helped diversify over one-fourth of total sales into new end markets. Today, the Company also serves customers in the electric vehicle, military, aerospace, agriculture, and marine industries.
Ownership has not been actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the Company for over five years. The operations are principally run by a three-person leadership team. The team has worked hard to create a culture that devolves decision making to the lower levels and empowers the team to manage their part of the Business. As a result, the Company has a dedicated employee base with minimal turnover, including over 40 experienced journeyman tool and die makers. Ownership is flexible regarding the details of a transition and is willing to provide reasonable and customary transition assistance following the completion of a transaction. There are no expected losses in personnel post-transaction.
The Company operates out of two production buildings and one warehouse in the same location. The properties are owned through a related entity and are available to purchase alongside the Company. With current equipment, facilities, and advanced manufacturing capabilities, the Company could double its production output. Moreover, there are opportunities to move into high-pressure die casting or reduce operating cost, both of which would require minimal investment.
