Current Role: As a Buy-Side Director and M&A Advisor, Sam directs the Buy-Side team and leads in business development, detailed market research, expert financial analysis, valuation guidance, strategic offer structuring, effective negotiation, and financing procurement. Since joining Calder Capital in 2018, Sam Scharich has been integral in driving the firm's M&A activities and innovation. Sam's expertise in advising both sellers and buyers through the M&A process has been pivotal in ensuring successful, efficient, and seamless business acquisitions or exits. Sam splits his time between leading Calder's Buy-Side team, which uncovers and helps clients complete off-market transactions, and representing large and complex business sellers in robust confidential auction processes on the market. Sam initially joined Calder Capital as an Intern in 2018 and has grown with the firm.
Background:Sam is a Grand Rapids, Michigan native who has a passion for entrepreneurship and building relationships. He is a summa cum laude Finance graduate of Michigan State University's Eli Broad School of Business. He also holds a Michigan Real Estate license. Sam brings energy, enthusiasm, quick and creative thinking, as well as a desire to learn and get things done each and every day.
Awards and Recognition: Sam has been recognized as an Emerging Leader by The M&A Advisor (2025) and is a Business Brokerage Press Expert in Service Businesses. The 2025 sale of BCU Electric, which Sam co-advised the sale of, was recognized in the 16th Annual International M&A Advisor Awards as Industrials Deal of the Year ($10MM-$50MM).
Hobbies: Sam enjoys basketball, real estate, woodworking, swimming, and spending quality time with his family. He also volunteers with Home Repair Services of Kent County, a nonprofit organization that provides essential home repairs, safety inspections, accessibility modifications, homeowner education, and financial counseling to residents of Kent County, MI.
