Calder Capital is proud to announce that Bellingar Packing & Specialty Meats of Ashley and St. Johns, Michigan has been acquired by an individual investor, Josiah Heikoop.
Founded in 1977, Bellingar Packing & Specialty Meats is a custom meat processing plant and retail store. The company specializes in processing beef, pork, venison, lamb, and goat, and offers a diverse selection of fresh, specialty meats. Over the past 45+ years, the company has expanded to include 34 employees and two locations in Central Michigan. Mike Bellingar, the second-generation owner, has been the sole owner since 1991. Ready for retirement, Mike engaged Calder Capital to identify a successor for this family-owned business.
“I am looking forward to spending more time at home and spending time with my children and grandchildren who live out of state,” Mike shared.
Josiah Heikoop, based in Ada, Michigan, has been working in the meat processing industry since 2009. His most recent role was as the Quality Manager for West Michigan Beef, where he gained extensive experience in meat processing and USDA compliance. Recognizing a valuable opportunity to expand the USDA custom meat processing industry in Michigan, Josiah took the strategic step of acquiring Bellingar Packing & Specialty Meats to bring his vision to life.
