October was a busy and meaningful month for the Calder Capital team, filled with opportunities to serve others, give, and connect with our community.
Our team came together across multiple initiatives over the last month: from walking to support domestic abuse survivors to building accessibility ramps and sponsoring children’s programs.

Walking for Change with the YWCA of West Central Michigan
Early in the month, Calder Capital joined the YWCA of West Central Michigan’s Walk for Change, an event dedicated to honoring survivors, raising awareness, and funding vital programs that help individuals heal and thrive.
Calder’s team members Nick Browning, Matt Wynes, Hannelore Jones, Marc Jones, baby Lowen Jones, and Melissa Somero participated in the event, walking alongside many other community members united by a shared purpose. WZZM13 was onsite to cover the event and highlight the community’s efforts to create a safer, more supportive West Michigan.
Thanks to the generosity of our network, Calder Capital’s team raised $1,300, earning recognition as the top fundraising team of the day. We’re proud to stand with the YWCA and the survivors they serve, continuing our commitment to empowerment and community well-being.

Supporting Families Through Trivia Night with D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s
Calder Capital also participated in D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s (DABSJ) Emerging Leaders Council Trivia Night, an energetic evening of fun and fundraising to support children and families across West Michigan.
Melissa Somero, Emily Friar, and Olivia Petersen represented Calder Capital at the event, joining other community leaders and advocates to help raise over $4,200. These funds go directly toward programs that provide safe homes, counseling, and resources to local children and families in need.
Calder Capital was honored to serve as a Supporting Sponsor for the event, alongside Mercantile Bank and Navisure Insurance Group. We’re grateful for the opportunity to back organizations like DABSJ that are making tangible, lasting differences in our community.

Building Accessibility with Home Repair Services of Kent County
Continuing our hands-on commitment to community service, a group of Calder volunteers joined forces once again with Home Repair Services of Kent County (HRS) to build a wheelchair ramp for a local homeowner.
Attending from Calder were Brandon Sinclair, Dominik Bepristis, Em Medich, Melissa Somero, Nick Browning, Matt Baas, and Alex Flechsig. Working alongside the HRS team, our volunteers spent the day building an accessibility ramp that will provide a safer, more independent living experience for a Kent County neighbor.
Home Repair Services’ mission is to equip, strengthen, and empower homeowners to build strong, stable communities. We’re proud to contribute to that vision and to continue partnering with organizations like HRS that make real, local impact possible.

Spreading Holiday Cheer with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree
To close out the month, members of the Calder Capital team helped set up the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, a program that ensures children and teens in need receive gifts during the Holiday season.
Hannelore Jones and Sherri Engel set up the Angel Tree in our office as we kick off the season of giving.

Commitment to Community
From fundraising and walking to hammering and trivia, October reminded us of the power of community and the impact of showing up for others. At Calder Capital, we’re proud to dedicate our time and resources to organizations that uplift, support, and strengthen others.
