Calder Capital, a nationwide mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, is excited to welcome Emma Westerhouse as Executive Assistant to the Sell-Side Managing Director.
Introducing Emma:
Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Emma brings hands-on experience from the construction and roofing industry, most recently working at Irish Roofing & Exteriors. While there, she witnessed the company’s sale to a private equity group, a pivotal moment that introduced her to the world of mergers and acquisitions. Emma attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Western Michigan University.
When asked what led her to join Calder Capital, Emma explained that seeing her former employer go through an acquisition motivated her to learn more about the “why” and “how” behind deals. She noted, “After the company I worked for was sold to a private equity firm, I became very curious about how that process worked. When I saw the job posting for Calder on Indeed, it felt like a sign to apply!”
Emma is eager to dive into her role, adding, “I’m looking forward to learning about the behind-the-scenes work of selling a business!”
Emma thrives and is motivated when challenged to grow and keep learning by colleagues. Her favorite quote: “You is kind, you is smart, you is important,” comes from The Help and has stayed with her since middle school as a weekly reminder of self-worth and confidence.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys downtime with her dogs, reading, spending time with family, and playing rugby. She also volunteers as a dog walker at the Kent County Animal Shelter. Driven by personal growth and a desire to keep learning, Emma is currently completing the class hours required to earn her builder’s license. She also serves as Secretary for the Grand Rapids chapter of National Women in Roofing.
In her new role as Executive Assistant, Sell-Side, Emma will provide dedicated support to Calder Capital Sell-Side Managing Director, Garrett Monroe. This role is crucial to ensuring the Managing Director’s time is optimized, communications are handled effectively, and team operations run seamlessly.
