Calder Capital is proud to announce that Matthew Baas, M&A Advisor, has been named a winner of The M&A Advisor’s Emerging Leaders Award. Matt joined Calder Capital in 2016 and has since distinguished himself as a leading dealmaker from Main Street to the middle market. His track record spans a wide range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, and distribution, where he has consistently delivered successful outcomes for clients. He is known for his deep industry knowledge, hands-on leadership, and ability to navigate complex transactions with professionalism and clarity.

In addition to his role at Calder, Matt is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Small Business Deal Advisors (SBDA), Calder’s sister company, which has completed over 80 transactions for businesses under $3M in enterprise value. Founded while he was still in college, SBDA fills a critical market gap by delivering high-quality M&A advisory services to smaller business owners often underserved in traditional deal markets.

Notably, Matt has had a leading role in many of Calder's largest transactions, including the $75M recapitalization and acquisition of Servpro of Saginaw, which garnered finalist distinction at the 23rd Annual M&A Awards in New York for M&A Deal of the Year ($75M to $100M) and Industrials Deal of the Year ($50M-100M).  Matt also served as the co-lead Sell-Side M&A Advisor on the sale of Ohio-based BCU Electric to Israel-based Meptagon Group, which was awarded Industrials Deal of the Year in the $10MM to $50MM category in the 16th Annual International M&A Awards.

Matt is also an Investor and Partner at Weinkauf Plumbing & Heating, a multi-location plumbing and mechanical contractor serving northeastern lower Michigan. Although his involvement with Weinkauf is limited, his diversified business interests and ability to manage and grow different ventures demonstrate a versatile and effective leadership style.

“Matt’s ability to identify opportunities, take risks, and execute with precision makes him a standout recipient for The M&A Advisor’s Emerging Leaders Award,” said Max Friar, Founder and Managing Partner of Calder Capital. “From co-founding Small Business Deal Advisors to leading major transactions at Calder Capital, he brings energy, vision, and professionalism to every deal. We’re incredibly proud to see him recognized as an Emerging Leader in the M&A industry.”

Outside of his professional achievements, Matt actively participates in community service projects with his Calder Capital colleagues. He contributes his time to Grand Rapids-area causes, such as Home Repair Services, a non-profit that helps vulnerable populations maintain and retain home ownership. Additionally, he is involved with Ada Bible Church, where he and his family volunteer in assembling, packaging, and distributing meals for Grand Rapids-area school children who are in need.
