Sturgis is a manufacturer of proprietary components for motorcycles. Its customers include several of the biggest names in the motorcycle and aftermarket motorcycle parts industries across the US and internationally; many of these customers rely on the Company as the sole supplier of these specific components. Further, these parts are designed and manufactured using manufacturing processes that are proprietary and unique to Sturgis, making switching suppliers nearly impossible for customers without replacing required tooling.
All processes are performed internally, from tool design and engineering to production to basic surface finishing. This control over the process shortens lead times, lowers costs, and protects intellectual property, making the Company routinely recognized as a top supplier for its customers. The breadth of internal capabilities also meets the needs of other industries, as the Company has manufactured several components for the aerospace and marine industries in recent years. These two additional industries present additional growth opportunities for the Business.
Ownership is semi-passively involved and delegates all the managing of employees to key managers. These managers run the day-to-day operations and are motivated to continue with the Business and partner with new ownership to take the Business to new heights.
The Business operates out of a single facility built within the last decade. This purpose-built facility is strategically laid out and tailored precisely to the Company’s integrated production processes. The facility is owned through a related entity, and the owners prefer to sell the real estate to new owners.
