Introducing Colin:
From the Detroit metropolitan area, Colin has been hired by Calder Capital after back-to-back internships on the firm’s Buy-Side and Sell-Side teams. Colin’s entrepreneurial background includes co-founding and selling a Michigan-based home services company. He studied Finance at Michigan State University and was a member of the Honors College. During his time at MSU, he received several business-related academic scholarships and earned a podium placement in the Boston University Hospitality Real Estate Competition.
“My internships with Calder gave me a strong appreciation for lower-middle-market M&A and the opportunity to work closely with business owners, buyers, and other deal teams,” Colin shared. “I’m excited to build on that experience in this full-time role, take greater ownership of the process, work more directly with clients, and play a more meaningful role in evaluating acquisition opportunities.”
Motivated by his family, continued growth, and the opportunity to build a life and career he can be proud of, Colin enjoys challenging himself both personally and professionally. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, playing acoustic and electric guitar, watching movies, learning about music history, and following Michigan State football. He also enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. His favorite motto is “luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity,” and it reinforces his drive to put himself in a position to succeed.
When asked about what he looks forward to the most as a Buy-Side Associate, Colin noted, “I’m most looking forward to working through the nuances of different businesses and industries, and helping buyers identify opportunities that fit their investment criteria and long-term goals.”

In his new role on Calder’s Buy-Side team, Colin will help source acquisition targets through outreach and existing relationships, evaluate potential opportunities, and support the origination and execution of transactions. He will perform valuation analyses, prepare materials for prospect and client meetings, and manage active opportunities with oversight from Directors and Advisors. Working alongside his colleagues, Colin will also contribute feedback to help improve Calder’s processes and services.
“Colin brings a valuable combination of experience from his time working with both Calder’s Buy and Sell-Side teams, as well as firsthand perspective as an entrepreneur who has built and sold a business. His well-rounded background will serve him and Calder well as he helps buyers evaluate acquisition opportunities and pursue businesses that align with their goals. We’re excited to see Colin grow from his internships into a full-time role on Calder’s Buy-Side team and are eager to support his continued development,” remarked Sam Scharich, Buy-Side Managing Director at Calder Capital.
We’re excited to celebrate Colin’s transition from intern to full-time Buy-Side Associate. To learn more about Colin’s professional journey, connect with him on LinkedIn.
