Calder Capital, a nationwide mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, is thrilled to welcome Dan Duba Jr. as our newest Buy-Side Mergers & Acquisitions Advisor.

Introducing Dan
A Grand Rapids, Michigan native, Dan brings a wealth of leadership and operational experience to the Calder team. He spent 18 years at Gordon Food Service in various leadership roles, where he was recognized for driving award-winning leadership development programs. Dan later transitioned into entrepreneurship, spending four years as a small business owner, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities business owners face. For the last year and a half, he was an M&A Advisor at Calder Capital’s sister company, Small Business Deal Advisors. In his role, he primarily advised sellers of retail, professional services, and bar/restaurant businesses. He holds an MBA from Aquinas College and is passionate about helping individuals and businesses grow and succeed.
Dan’s work on both sides of the small business landscape: corporate and entrepreneurial has naturally led him to Calder Capital. “I was drawn to Calder Capital after working full-time with buyers and sellers at Calder’s sister company Small Business Deal Advisors,” he shared. “The opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues while serving clients in a meaningful way made this the perfect next step for me. The learning and growth opportunities here are tremendous”
Dan is enthusiastic about this new chapter assisting buy-side clients, adding, “I’m excited to collaborate with business owners and buyers, understand their goals, and apply my experience to guide them through a successful transaction.”
Motivated by continuous growth and development, Dan is driven by the desire to make a lasting impact. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching youth sports, participating in CrossFit and Taekwondo training, and spending time with his family traveling, boating, and camping. He currently serves as President of Rockford Youth Football, a nonprofit offering flag and tackle programs for K–6th grade. Dan also coaches youth football and travel basketball, and has previously served multiple terms on the Board of Directors for FEDCom Credit Union in Grand Rapids.
In his new role as a Buy-Side M&A Advisor, Dan will take charge of deals from the moment a client is ready to move forward with a warm lead through closing. He'll lead the team, facilitate introductions, oversee valuations, guide deal structure, negotiate for clients, secure financing, manage due diligence, and coordinate the closing process to ensure a smooth transaction. Dan’s broad background across corporate leadership and entrepreneurship positions him to build strong relationships with clients and guide them through the complex M&A process with empathy and precision.
“Dan’s combination of corporate experience, leadership acumen, and drive to serve others makes him an excellent fit for our Advisory team,” said Max Friar, Managing Partner of Calder Capital. “At Small Business Deal Advisors, he delivered tremendous results for his clients. With his sterling reputation and track record, we’re thrilled to welcome Dan aboard as a Calder Capital M&A Advisor.”
We’re excited to have Dan on the Calder Capital team. To learn more about Dan’s professional journey, connect with him on LinkedIn.
