Jon is a determined professional who earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from GVSU. He is a proud native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jon has a deep understanding of the area and its people, having grown up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and currently residing in Hudsonville, Michigan.
With his passion for M&A growing significantly in recent years, Jon recently met with Calder’s Managing Partner, Max Friar, to express his desire to enter the field full-time. Following their meeting and continued interaction with Calder’s growing team, Jon felt confident that he found the perfect place to take his aspirations to the next level.
When asked what excites him most about his transition, Jon shared, “There is a lot that I am looking forward to at Calder. The team and the culture that has been built here is fantastic. The Calder team is always willing to help and are great to work with. The culture is one of positivity, opportunity, and a drive to succeed. I am eager to take on the new challenges that lie ahead in this role, and to help Calder continue to grow and succeed!”
Jon’s impressive background includes 11 years in banking and his most recent role as a branch manager at Macatawa Bank where he honed his leadership, finance, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, Jon has been expanding his expertise in the M&A field, working part-time with Small Business Deal Advisors, Calder’s sister company, for the past two years.
He has developed a discipline when it comes to maintaining a positive attitude and seeking out opportunities even in the face of setbacks. Jon lives by the inspiring words of legendary UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden, who said, “Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.” This quote resonates deeply with Jon, reminding him to stay focused and maintain a positive outlook, even when circumstances seem difficult.
When he’s not working, Jon can be found immersing himself in the great outdoors, exploring hiking trails, and taking trips to northern Michigan to experience the natural beauty and beaches of Michigan. Jon also enjoys watching sports and sampling new foods. Despite having many hobbies, Jon is most known for being a devoted family man. He’s the proud girl-dad of four daughters and a dog, and has been happily married to his wife, Alyssa, for 12 years. As a family, they enjoy riding bikes and playing golf together. Jon emphasizes that spending time with his loved ones is what truly lifts his spirits, brightens his day, and drives him to success.
