– Former Owner, Steel Products Supplier, Kentucky (Seller)
Transaction Summary
Calder Capital, a nationwide mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of a Kentucky-based Steel Products Supplier by a Construction-Focused Strategic Buyer, based in Kentucky.
The Acquisition Story
The Steel Products Supplier is a long-standing provider of specialty steel building components such as roof trusses, floor trusses, load-bearing wall panels, metal decking, and related installation services for commercial construction projects across the United States and Canada. The business serves as a turnkey partner for contractors, developers, and builders seeking high-quality steel framing solutions for projects such as hotels, senior living communities, schools, universities, government facilities, restaurants, and multifamily developments. With the co-owners seeking a transition into retirement, they engaged Calder’s Sell-Side team.
The Steel Products Supplier’s engagement led to Calder Capital marketing and advising the sale of their business to the Construction-Focused Strategic Buyer
The Construction-Focused Strategic Buyer is a regional building materials distributor serving both wholesale and retail customers across the broader Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee markets. The company supplies drywall, drywall finishing products, insulation, ceiling systems, and related accessories to a wide range of customers. As a customer of the Steel Products Supplier, the buyer was uniquely interested in discovering potential synergies upon learning of the Steel Products Supplier being sold on the market. Ultimately, the buyer found this transaction would make an ideal fit for their growth strategy.

Calder Capital’s Transaction Team and Sale Process
Rudy Moeller and Jakob Simonds of Calder Capital served as the Co-Lead Mergers & Acquisitions Advisors to the Steel Products Supplier.
Calder’s Sell-Side team generated strong market interest during the sale process, with 108 Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) distributed to qualified buyers, and five offers received.
The seller noted, “Calder Capital’s team are consummate professionals! My experience with their team was 5-star, based on their expertise and experience. Rudy and Jakob took a personal interest in my success. They offered solid advice while leaving the decision-making up to me and my team. They proved themselves to be the best in the business!”
Simonds commented, “The owners built an excellent business, but more importantly, they are genuinely good people who approached every decision with patience, integrity, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Throughout the process, they remained focused not just on their own transition into the next phase of life, but on finding the right partner to carry the business forward. They were thoughtful and diligent in identifying a buyer who would continue to care for the employees, serve customers well, and steward the reputation they spent years building. We are proud to have helped them achieve an outcome that positions both the owners and the company for long term success.”
Moeller shared, “my colleague, Jakob Simonds, did a superb job with the financial analysis component of this transaction. And our clients, the sellers, were each a true joy to work with.”
“Steel component manufacturers, building products distributors, and construction supply companies require an M&A advisor that understands the operational realities of the steel market, from project-based demand and material pricing to customer concentration, installation capabilities, and delivery execution,” stated Garrett Monroe, Calder’s Sell-Side Managing Director. “Our Tennessee- and Kentucky-based M&A advisors, Jakob and Rudy, did an exceptional job positioning this Kentucky-based client to the right universe of strategic and financial buyers. Well done, team!”
Calder Capital served as the Exclusive Sell-Side Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor to the Steel Products Supplier.
