The Acquisition Story
Strata Landscape Services provides commercial landscaping solutions across the Western United States. Backed by growth equity and led by CEO Justin Crandall, Strata engaged Calder Capital as its exclusive Buy-Side M&A advisor as they continue building a portfolio of complementary landscape companies in new geographies.
Strata Landscape Services’ engagement led to Calder Capital sourcing and facilitating the acquisition of Venco Western, Inc.
Founded in 1960, Venco Western, Inc. specializes in the design and maintenance of landscapes for homeowner associations, commercial, government, and municipal properties. With over 200 employees, expertise in horticulture, and a long-standing reputation across Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties, Venco Western has built a legacy of delivering high-quality, visually impactful outdoor environments.

Sam Scharich, Buy-Side Managing Director at Calder Capital, served as the lead M&A advisor to Strata. Serving as Directors were Parker Schaap and Hannah Nabhan of Calder Capital.
Calder’s Buy-Side team generated 41 off-market seller introductions, resulting in the successful acquisition of Venco Western. Venco Western marks the third transaction that Calder has sourced and advised for Strata Landscape Services, with the first being Gentry Landscapes of Orange County, California and the second being Boulder Landscaping of Salt Lake City, Utah.
